A few highlights!

We had a great trip home to Kansas City and Wichita. The drive was a bit long (total of 28 hours in the car!) but we are glad we got to see family and had time to relax.

Happy Halloween!

The kids had a blast dressing up for halloween. Maya wears here "princess" dress ALL of the time and Adam has been wearing his Darth Vadar costume for weeks now. Jack loves his cat in the hat, but is not quite into dressing up like the other two. This year we were in Wichita for halloween so we didn't get to actually go trick-or-treating. The kids have not even asked about it. Our neighborhood had a halloween party on the green today, so we got to dress up, eat lots of junk and play with our friends.

We got back yesterday from our trip to Kansas City and Wichita. We left last Friday and drove 7 hours to St. Louis. Stayed there overnight and drove the other 7 hours the next day. Staying in a hotel with 3 kids and a dog was NOT fun. Maya was a nightmare! She's pretty deep in the terrible twos! She screams, throws fits, refuses to use the potty, refuses to go to bed and has started biting me. Oh, and on our trip she decided to start calling her daddy "Chad".

I'll post pictures of our trip to Wichita in a few days. We had a great time and did so much without leaving Nana's house. We had wiener roast, jumped in leaves, fished (Jack "caught" a catfish), rowed in a blow up boat, went to the zoo (okay, left the house once :), went on tractor rides, had lots of good food, played cards and much more!

Broken Arm

Yes, it was a matter of time. I always knew Jack would be the first to break something, but this was actually NOT his fault.

So, last Wednesday at soccer a kid from the other team (and a coaches son) was pushing a lot of the kids on the field, well when he pushed Jack, Jack fell and landed on his arm. Jack was crying and obviously in pain. I took him to Children's Urgent Care and they did x-rays on his elbow and saw there was not any damage.

Since his arm was still hurting him, I called the doctor and she ordered more x-rays. We found that he has a fracture on the upper part of his arm. I feel so bad that it took me 5 days to call the doctor. Since Jack has a HIGH pain tolerance (remember when he knocked his tooth out, root and all, and barely cried!) I guess I need to be more aware of his injuries.

He now has to wear this sling for 6-8 weeks! He is constantly begging me to take it off. Unfortunately, his hurt arm is his right, the one he uses. Jack is tough and will get threw this. I'm just glad he didn't have to have a hard cast and this one we can take on and off.

Brotherly Love!

I found Jack putting bows in Maya's hair.
I love peeking in on the kids playing together.
Jack and Maya play together quite often,
it's just that they are usually rough housing!
It was nice to find them playing nice and quietly together.

p.s.
Yes, I know my kids are ALWAYS in their underwear.
It's not a planned thing.
It just happens.

Cubbies!

The boys are cubbies! This is a program our church offers. It's basically like vacation bible school but all year round. It's every Wednesday night from 6:30-8:00. As they learn bible verses and their "homework" they will earn badges that they can put on their vest. They love it. I am one of their teachers this year. I originally wanted to work with the older kids, but there was a greater need with the preschoolers. Our class is CRAZY! We have 16 kids and 12 of them are boys! Not just any boys, but there are about 5 of them as active and rough like Jack. I am exhausted by the time we get home! Our neighbors watch Maya while we are gone. I drop her off, then they come back to our house to put her to bed. It's so nice knowing she's being taken care of. I could bring her with me, but it's right during her bedtime.

Speaking of Maya....she's such a big girl. This week of potty training has been great. She's only had a few accidents. We were out to dinner and she told me she had to go potty. She went on the restaurant for the first time. She also peed in our travel car potty, too. I'm amazed at how smart she is. Almost every morning she poops in her potty and yells, "I did it"! I'm so proud of her!

Church picnic and other news

Our church had it's annual Fall Harvest Picnic. It was so much fun. We took a hayride, stickered pumpkins, ate cotton candy, face painted, ate lots of good food and had pony rides.

On other news.....Jack scored a goal in last Saturday's soccer game! Yay, Jackie! Adam was just as proud since he kicked the ball twice! This was worlds better than the week before when both boys cried on the sidelines. Our great neighbors, Bill and Marilyn, were able to come to the boys' soccer game, too.

As for Maya, well....I've decided to try to potty train her. I know she's ready. I'm the one dragging my feet. She was running around naked all day today and went pee pee only once. She was super excited to have her diaper on for nap time so she could "do her business". Sometimes I wonder how I ever trained twin boys!

Grandma Jenny and First day of school

So, I've realized that I forgot to post pictures of Grandma Jenny's visit. I also forgot to post about the boys' first day of school. My mom was able to visit us for Labor Day weekend. The best part was that she was there to see the boys off to their first day of preschool! So far the boys are liking school. Although, they really don't tell me too much. I usually know what they had for snack that day and if anyone in the class cried. They are such big boys. When we get to school, they just walk in their class and go about their business. I'm usually standing in the door way begging for a kiss good-bye. I do love my alone time with Maya while they're at school. Maya loves it, too. She asks where her brothers are about every 5 minutes!

Grandma Jenny's visit was great. We didn't do too much, but had fun just spending time together.

Soccer time!

The boys are on their first soccer team.
Last Saturday was their first game.
Overall, I think they did pretty well, considering they didn't even have any practices.
Jack was very competitive and got upset when he didn't get the ball.
Adam just had fun running up and down the field.
It's so nice having them in a sport that is outside.
Maya had fun running around, too.

Adam rides!

Adam rode his bike for the first time today!
He has been practicing gliding for a few weeks.
Today, we just ran along the side of him for about 10 minutes.
All the sudden, he got it!

We are going to celebrate by taking the kids to Chuck E. Cheese tomorrow!

End of summer

This was our last visit to the pool.
I'm soooo over the summer and heat and soooo
ready for fall!
Boys start school this Wednesday.
Yay!
They met their teachers this week and are excited for their first day.
