Finally!

Yes, I finally got around to taking these pictures. I had so much fun decorating the boys room. I painted horizontal stripes in the same green color that their bedroom in K.C. had. Above the cribs are cute alphabet flashcards hanging from ribbon and attached by small clips. To the right of the cribs is a puzzle that I glued together for a cute, cheap picture. On the night stand there is a new red lantern, along with the time out frog from Nana. We still snuggle on our rocking chair and spend lots of time reading. To protect the fabric of the chair we use the tie blanket that Adam and Jack's cousin, Brooke, made for them. Also, above the dressers are 3 original art pieces from my talented, almost 9, niece Brooke. Lastly, the closet is decorated and organized in colorful bins.

WHAT A VISIT

Hi, this is Grandma Moorefield. I am writing about my adventures with Adam and Jack.

I arrived in Columbus, Ohio on July 30th. For the next 8 days I was in a whirlwind of fun.

Adam and Jack are on a schedule and you would think that the routine would keep things somewhat calm, but that is far from the truth.

Wake Up - The boys get up around 06:00 or 06:30 a.m. Mommy gets up and lovingly welcomes them to the day. I admit I slept in a little longer I was adjusting to Eastern time zone.

Play – Adam and Jack have a great playroom. It is where all of their toys are located and they like spending time in the room. A couple of days Katy, Lola, and the boys took me for a walk around the neighborhood so that I could see where they live. Katy says they live in the country. When you drive down the road to their house, she says you can see deer. Now I never saw one, but it was pretty hot. There were deer crossing signs so there was evidence that they existed.

Breakfast – The excitement here is that as soon as you put Adam and Jack in their highchairs it is expected that there will be food on their plates. Therefore, they start out with an appetizer of dry cereal while the rest of their breakfast is being prepared. Apple butter was added to their food list for putting on toast or bread.

Play – It is nice that Adam and Jack have each other to play with, but Adam wants what Jack has and Jack wants what Adam has. They are always looking for something new to get into or doing things that they know they are not supposed to do.

Morning Nap – The boys still like taking their morning nap. It may not be as long, but they still go to bed easily. Then Katy and I played “Beat the Clock”. Clean up the kitchen, eat breakfast, take a shower and get dressed before the boys wake up from their nap. Katy was even able to take off on her own and get some errands done as I watched the boys.

Play – This is special playtime. This is when we got to go to the library on Tuesday to sing songs and meet with friends. On Wednesday, we went to Gymboree. This is not just playtime for the boys. We all got to participate. Adam and Jack are not fond of the parachute activities but they do like all the things they can climb on or anything with wheels. Then on other days they schedule play dates with their friends in each others home. I am not sure, but I suspect this is more for all of the mothers so that they can get together and have an adult conversation.

Lunch – The appetizer is usually crackers of some kind. Meat, vegetables, and fruit provide them with a well rounded meal. Both of the boys will eat almost anything you give them. We even tried fish and they ate it as well. Adam is the one that likes to feed Lola. It is not that he doesn’t like the food; he is just learning to share.

Play – Back up to the playroom. They really like playing on the sofa, but you have to watch them much closer to make sure they don’t fall off backwards, climb over the back and fall, or climb over the arms and fall. The sofa is “L” shaped, so they push the leather coffee table up against the sofa to make a bigger play area. They know what they are not supposed to do, so they will go over to the arm of the sofa, put their hands down and then turn around and look at you waiting to see if you are going to say anything. They give you that little smirk / grin look like I know what I am doing. They do know how to turn around and get off of the sofa backwards you just have to remind them sometimes.

Afternoon Nap – Adam and Jack will usually take a longer nap in the afternoon. Once again they go to bed without any issues. Like in the morning you either get things done, take a nap yourself, or Katy and I would make plans on where we were going to go when the boys woke up.

Play – This is the play time when we would get out the map and hit the road. On different days, we went to two different shopping malls (one close by and one on the other side of town), two different quilt stores (one close to the airport and one that took us straight through downtown Columbus right by Ohio State University), and several miscellaneous stores to get items to help with lengthening curtains which we also did while I was there.

Dinner – The appetizer could be cereal, crackers, or maybe even cheese. I learned quickly that I could not pull the cheese apart in bite size pieces fast enough for two boys. I learned quickly that I could not make mashed potato balls fast enough for two boys. They ate what I put down faster than I could get it down. It was so good to see them eating so well. At all 3 meals we worked on improving our talents. It was probably only because I was there, but we would all clap our hands, wave ‘hi’ and/or ‘bye’, and then clap our hand over our mouth while we made noise.

Bath (Optional) – This did not always happen, but the boys love it when it does.

Play – This is the last playtime of the day. Books are read even though they don’t necessarily sit there and listen to you.

Bedtime – Off to bed at around 07:00 p.m. Most of the time they go to bed without any trouble. Jack will usually take longer to go to sleep, but he will be fairly quiet in his bed until he does. Adam did have a couple of nights where it wasn’t working and it took a little rocking to get him to sleep. There were also a couple of nights that the boys were diving into their beds they were so excited about going to sleep.

Sprinkled throughout the entire day you are changing diapers, putting clothes on, making water or milk cups, putting on PJs, settling disputes if they can’t work it out, moving them from where they don’t belong, going upstairs, going downstairs, and making sure gates are shut and locked. I enjoyed every minute.

There were two panic moments during the visit from my viewpoint.

1. On one of our shopping trips we pulled a ‘shop til you drop’ and was at the mall for 5 hours. As we were getting close to the end of the trip I realized that we did not have Jack’s baby with us any more. Katy and I looked all over the stroller and could not find it. We decided that we would have to retrace our steps (5 hours worth) to see if we could find his baby or if someone might have turned it in. God must have been smiling down on us because the very first store we went back into had Jack’s baby.

2. One afternoon when Katy was out and I was watching the boys both of them decided to make a deposit in their diapers. I changed Adam and while I was changing Jack, Adam was playing with a tube of Desitin. The cap was on and they play with it all of the time so I didn’t think anything about it. When I got done changing Jack, I looked up and Adam had gotten the cap off and had Desitin all over his hands and in his mouth. I panicked took him into the bathroom and got a washcloth and got as much of it out of his mouth as I could and cleaned his hands. No, he was not a happy camper. When Katy got home, I told her what had happened and she said “Did you take a picture?” and I thought “Take a picture are you crazy”. Goes to show that I am not used to this kind of thing. She says they have done it before.

During these 8 days, it was 2 on 2 (Katy and me against Adam and Jack) and it was a whirlwind of activity. Normally Katy does all of this on her own. She is an ANGEL in disguise and I really appreciate the wonderful job she is doing with the grand boys (they are no longer babies).

This maybe a little humdrum to you, but when Adam and/or Jack give you those smiles and giggles, climb up in your lap and put their head on your shoulder, or share their binky with you it is HEAVEN.

Jack took his first steps yesterday. Last night Chad and I sat on the floor across from each other and encouraged Jack to walk back and forth. He took three steps before falling to his bottom. He was discouraged every time he would fall, so I'm thinking with some more practice he'll be walking in no time. Adam was watching Jack and very interested in what we were doing. He also tried to walk but he's just not quite ready. Hopefully by our September trip to Kansas City the boys will be walking!

Today is our 4 year anniversary. In the past 4 years Chad and I have lived in Kansas, Texas, back to Kansas and Ohio. Chad went from a district manager to a director of stores with Abercrombie and I graduated college with my bachelor's degree (finally.) I don't have to mention we have 2 awesome sons, 1 well behaved dog and a lovey cat. Chad is such a wonderful dad. The boys just light up when comes in the room. We are so fortunate to have a great family and life together. I hope we get to celebrate our 50 year anniversary someday.

We had a fun visit with Grandma Moorefield. Though she was visiting for 8 days, I can't believe she's already gone. Nancy said she will post on my blog telling her about her visit with us. What a great idea Nancy! While GM was here, we took the boys to get their 1 year pics taken. We took the boys to the studio Friday, Sunday and Monday, and finally got an ok shot of them together. I'll send them out later this month. It was almost impossible to get a good shot of them sitting still together and not crying for me the whole time.

Grandma Jenny is visiting September 1st. She will be here for 4 days then head off to Nashville to see my brother and his family. We are so excited to have her come and see our new house. She won't belive how big the boys have gotten.

I have better head to the shower. Adam and Jack just fell asleep so my window is very short! After naps we are off to Gymboree!

"No"

Well, once again, I have been slacking on the blog updates. I really don't have any good excuses, except that I have been both busy and lazy. The busy consists of painting the boys room, decorating the room with accessories, cleaning the house for Grandma Moorefield's visit, chasing the boys (that's the majority of my days), trying to entertain the boys with new activities, attending play dates and Gymboree, trying to keep up with the laundry (I'm good at the washing and drying, it's the putting away I dread), and being a good housewife by having a home cooked dinner every night....okay, so that's an exaggeration. No seriously, besides being busy, I do run out of things to talk about. So, thought I am posting today, and I do have several interesting things to tell, I cannot promise to always have an exciting post.

We are having a great visit with Grandma Moorefield. We picked her up on Monday afternoon. Besides the usual shopping here and there, we have been playing, walking in the mornings and doing our usual daily activities, like the library and Gymboree. Today we hit up some quilt stores (yes, I actually wanted to go) and we went out to dinner with the boys. Tomorrow G.M. is going to the quilt stores again without us while the boys and I wait for the refrigerator repair man to show up. Friday we are hoping to get the boys 1 year pictures taken and visit a mall I have yet ventured to. The weekend consists of relaxing and G.M. baby-sitting while Chad and I enjoy a baby free dinner for our 4 year anniversary.

While I was discussing what to write in my blog with G.M., Jack said his first word. This afternoon I was talking about my blog and asking what I should write about. Well, just a few hours later, Jack said......."NO." That's right, I'm 99% sure he said "no." Jack keeps trying to climb on the end table from the sofa. Every time he gets close, I say "no, no" and wave my finger back and forth. G.M. was sitting in the playroom and Jack climbed up to the end table, looked at her, and waved his finger then said "NO." When she told me the story I was so surprised! A few minutes later he did the same thing to me. It's so hard to be serious telling him "no" while waving my finger because he usually looks at me and waves his finger back at me. He's a little Chad junior.

The boys are growing so fast. Both of the boys are so curious of everything and love to discover new things. In the kitchen I have the majority of the cabinets baby proofed. Oven knobs, drawers, cabinets, door stoppers, baby gates the works, except the lazy susan. I figured the lazy susan was a complicated door that would probably not be an issue. Well, guess where Jack has discovered today? That's right, the lazy susan. Adam and Jack had a heyday digging through the oatmeal containers and muffin mixes. After the lazy susan discovery, Jack preceded to climb over the baby gate laying on the stairs and headed upstairs to the playroom. What am I going to do when they walk? I am barely keeping up.

The boys are now brushing their teeth on their own. I'm assuming with them just chewing on the brush for 5 minutes they are getting their teeth somewhat clean. I use to use a wash cloth to wipe their teeth but I was tired of getting bit all the time. They seem to like the fruit flavored tooth paste and since it's for children I don't have to worry about them swallowing it. I try to help them along but they get all bent out of shape thinking I'm going to take the brush away from them.

I'm hoping to be done painting the boys bedroom by next weekend. The wall are currently an off white color. I'm painting lime green stripes going horizontally around the the room. It's a ton of work so I'm hoping it's cute when I'm done. I'll post pictures (I know I keep saying that....)

We have a busy week this week. Today we went to our friend Courtney's house for a play group. There were 5 kids total, which Adam and Jack were the oldest. Tomorrow is babylap time at the library, Wednesday is Gymboree, and Thursday we are going to story time at our Pottery Barn Kids Store. I love having plans and I also love veggin' all day.

We miss our friends Eve and Emmett. Gwen had a tragic death in the family so she has been out of town since Friday. Our days just aren't the same without talking to our friends. Gwen, if you are reading this, our hearts and prayers go out to you and your family. Like we talked about, there are no words to make it better.

I know, I know, it's been awhile

I was told by someone recently, who shall remain anonymous(Kim Wentworth), that I needed to update my blog. Sorry I have been slacking on the Moorefield updates. Sometimes my days go by so fast and others just drag on. Guess I just haven't had much exciting stuff happen lately to write about.

I did have an exciting day on Monday with the Zac twins. Gwen was in a crunch for a sitter so I gladly volunteered to watch Eve and Emmett for the afternoon. It was great. All of the babies played really well and we didn't have any emergency situations. My new friend Tammy, whom I met through Gwen, came over with her 9 month old boy to help. We all had fun!

Well Jack has another lovey. Beth found one in Holland Michigan and mailed it to us. I'm so happy to have a back up lovey because all of the sudden Adam has an interest in his AND Jack's lovey. Grandma Moorefield said she found 2 loveys in Wichita Kansas and will be bringing them when she comes to visit is a couple weeks. So between the stash of them we should be good. Thanks to all that looked for us!

Adam and Jack are starting to fight. Adam will always cry when Jack comes near him because he fears Jack will take his toy, which he usually does. Their playroom is full of toys but they always want to play with the same thing. Adam will take a toy from Jack and start crawling in the other direction so Jack can't get him. And Jack will just crawl right on top of Adam to get whatever he wants. Boy, am I going to have my hands full!

I will be posting pictures of our house soon. We had a couch delivered this week and our tv installed above our fireplace. Things are coming along nicely. I love our house and can't wait to have everyone come visit!

Silence is Golden

Ahhh, peace and quiet. The boys are taking their morning nap. They take a nap at 9:00 a.m. and at 2:00 p.m. I think they are trying to give up their morning nap. Today is their first morning nap in 2 days! I don't want them to only have 1 nap a day! The morning nap is the time where I finish my cup of cold coffee and refill with a warm cup, take a shower (if I'm lucky timewise I get to shave my legs), maybe clean the kitchen from breakfast and enjoy the silence until they get up.

The boys are so active. I took them to babylap time at the library yesterday. I would sit down with both of them, turn to talk to another mommy, and off they both go. By the time I get up to carry one back the other is gone. If Jack wasn't trying to go out the library door, he was pushing someone else stroller or socializing across the room. Adam would follow Jack, while keeping an eye of me.

Both of the boys have decided that they do not want the other one to cuddle me. If Jack is laying in my lap, Adam will just sit there and cry. If Adam is snuggling me, Jack will fuss and give dirty looks. They both love to be rocked to sleep. Although Adam would prefer to rock and snuggle, then pull my hair and laugh. I would say out of both them, Adam is more of a "momma's boy." Usually if I leave his eyesight he will cry. Jack doesn't seem to notice unless he's tired and fussy.

We are offically off the bottles. It has been 2 weeks since they have had a bottle. I threw them out so I wasn't tempted to give in. They love their sippy cups. And they also didn't seem to notice the change from formual to whole milk. They are eating all kinds of foods, but still Cherrios is the food of choice for Jack and bananas for Adam.

Criminal, but so cute!

We had another first with the Moorefield boys. Chad and I took the boys to a Pottery Barn Outlet store today. We shopped around, didn't see anything we wanted, so we left. A few stores later we realized that Adam had grabbed a toy and stuck it in the stroller! Shoplifting, and only 1 year old! We are in trouble! I ever-so-slyly walked back to the store and put it on a table. It was actually pretty comical.

I'm still searching for a replica of Jack's lovey. It's a blue elephant with polka-dots. Grandma Moorefield bought it for him last year. I tried to find it online but they said it has since been discontinued. They sell it at Tuesday Mornings (so someone said on the Internet). Well I tried to go to our Tuesday Mornings and they are closed for 2 weeks for inventory! That's irritating. Tuesday Mornings is like TJ Maxx, they get random stuff in. My chances of finding another lovey is slim. Though I did see a lady on EBAY is selling one for $25.00! She obviously knows parents in desperate need to find another lovey will pay anything!

Happy Forth of July!

We had a pretty relaxing forth of July! In the morning we took the boys to the New Albany parade. The boys rode along in their new Radio Flyer wagon they got for their birthday. They seemed to like the parade, though the balloons they got had to have been the highlight of their day! Later in the day we played and took an exciting trip to Home Depot! Once the boys were in bed, Chad and I went to our neighbors for a few drinks. Overall, it was just another uneventful day.

Adam and Jack get their 1 year shots today. They do pretty well with shots, but I do give them Tylenol before we go. I'm going to ask the doctor about taking the boys off the bottle. I think it will be a hard transition. I probably need to go cold turkey and throw all of our bottles away. What a good feeling it will be to get rid of all of those bottles!

Happy Birthday Adam and Jack!!

I can't believe the boys are 1! Mostly I can't believe Chad and I made it 1 year with them! It really does go by so fast! We had a great day. We went to the library for our story/music class at 11:00. We came home to eat lunch and play. Afterwards they took a nap (okay, I took one too), then we went to Eve and Emmett's house to play for a little bit. Around 5:00 we went to Chad work so he could show off the boys. What a proud daddy he is! After that I thought it was only appropriate to let the boys have their first Happy Meal from McDonalds for their b-day. They didn't take to it like I thought they would (considering that's all I ate when I was pregnant with them). We finished the night with cake, which Adam loved and Jack didn't. Oh, and of course a bath after our cake mess. The boys are now sound asleep, completely oblivious to their special day.

Adam has a fever. He felt a little warm today but not too warm for me to be alarmed. After his bath I took his temperature and it was 102. Poor little guy. He's been fussy, I wonder if his teeth are bothering him? Hopefully it's nothing bad and Jack doesn't get it. I'll have to give him more Tylenol before I go to bed.

Tomorrow is Gymboree class. I'll post pictures so everyone can see what it's like. If Adam's temperature doesn't go down we will skip the class. He probably caught something being around all of these kids.

Gymboree!

We are all doing great. The boys and I went to Gymboree on Wednesday. For those who don't know what Gymboree is, it's a place for babies to age 5 to come and play, sing songs, learn and explore. We went with our friend Gwen and her twins. The boys had so much fun that we ended up joining. Our class is every Wednesday at 11:30. We also can go to open play time to play with the toys and climb around. I will take pictures next Wednesday. Jack did the same thing that he did at the library. When all the babies (about 10 of them) got in a circle Jack went in the middle and smiled and laughed. Like Lorraine said, I think he will be a "class clown."

We had a good night last night. I didn't get up to give Jack a bottle when he cried. He only cried for 20 minutes then fell asleep. They both woke up at 6:30 but I let them play and got up at 7:00. Finally a normal night! Tomorrow morning is my morning to sleep in. Chad will get up with them so I can sleep in until 8:00ish. Remember the days of sleeping until 10:00? Me neither.

Fun at the library

Today the boys and I went to the library for babylap time. There were lots of babies from a couple months old to 18 months old. Gwen was there with Emmett and Eve and another lady had 5 month old girl twins. Babylap playgroup is where everyone sits in a circle and the instructor reads books and sings songs. Right when we got there Adam and Jack just sat and stared at everyone. After a few minutes Jack wandered to the center of the circle and watched the instructor intensely. After songs and story time the kids are free to crawl around and play with each other. The class is every Tuesday at 11:00, I'll for sure be going next week.

I've been trying to work with the boys eating solid food. Today for breakfast we had Cherrios and yogurt (they love), fried egg (hate), toast with jelly (okay). For lunch we had cheese (Adam likes, Jack hates), crackers (like), squash (from jar, they like), bread and jelly sandwich (both like okay). For dinner we had canned beans (Adam really likes, Jack okay), Cherrios (I was desperate to give them something they would eat!), cheese, bread, pieces of noodles and chicken from my soup (Adam likes, Jack hate), and rice cereal. So as you can see I need to hit up the grocery store and try new things. Jack has a gag reflex with things that are slimy, like cheese and noodles. Adam on the other hand will mostly eat whatever is in front of him.

Believe it or not I actually got a lot accomplished today. I organized the hall closet, guest room closet, my closet, and bathroom drawers. The house is almost organized enough for me to relax a little. After the organizing is the decorating. I would like to decorate first but that involves shopping and spending money, which Chad requested I "slow down." Okay, I did buy a couch and a few small items. Next on the shopping list is a glass front door, kitchen table, kitchen rugs and a king size bed with new bedding. Alright, Maybe just the kitchen table for now.

The boys are now asleep. Bedtime is 8:00. I'm still holding on to some hope that they will sleep through the night and not wake up before 5:30! This morning was 6:00, which isn't that bad.

Happy birthday Grandma Moorefield! Bet you thought I forgot? Well I didn't, but don't expect a card in the mail, I did forget to mail that! Hope you had a great day!

I did have a great day! The boys had a play date with Kinsey, Eve and Emmett. Kinsey is Courtney's 8 month old and Eve and Emmett are twins just a week younger than the boys. I had a great time. Courtney and Gwen (the moms) are so much fun. I was hoping we would click and we did. I was so great to see another mom with her twins, especially twins the same age. I could have stayed all day and asked questions about their babies. Tomorrow is music class at the New Albany library. Can't wait until our next play date.

Today Lola went to the vet. She has some weird rash on her back. At first Chad and I thought she either was bitten at the boarding place she stayed at or maybe she was bitten by a hornet. I found out today she has a rash either from an allergic reaction or stress. I'm thinking stress. Chad said the 2 days Lola was home with him before the boys and I arrived she didn't eat. As soon as I walked in the door on Tuesday she started eating her food. I think this move has been hard on her. I need to make more of an effort to take her on walks. She still follows me around the house. I go downstairs, she goes downstairs. I go up, she goes up. I often step on her because she follows my every move. Baxter on the other hand has moved so many times that he adjusts very well.

Tomorrow will consist of more organizing and reorganizing. It's a great challenge to get anything done while chasing 2 babies around. I can barely get lunch and a shower in with keeping an eye on the boys, let alone getting my home put together.

The boys went to be at 8:00 instead of 7:30, lets all hope they sleep in a little later, say 6:00ish.

Happy Fathers Day!

Happy Fathers Day to all the dads out there! With everything going on with the move I almost forgot about today. I did forget to send out the Fathers Day cards. Sorry dad, Bob and Dick. We didn't do much. Chad slept in until 9:00 then we got ready for our day and went shopping. For dinner we went to this really cute local pizza shop. The pizza was okay, but the spaghetti bake was really good. Now the boys are in bed and Chad is watching t.v. while I play on the internet.

I bought a couch today. It's for the bonus/play room upstairs. We originally planned to put our old white couch up there but it wouldn't got up the stairs. The new one we ordered is a sectional. The fabric is really kid and pet friendly. I needed something that the boys could play hard on and eat and drink around without me worrying about stains. It should arrive July 21st. I can hardly wait.

Now that the couch is bought I need to find a kitchen table. I found one I like and that will work, but it's not what I imagined I wanted. I sorta wanted a table that was antique white with a oak colored top. The one I found that would work is oak top with black wrought iron legs. The table is really sturdy and doesn't scratch easily. I'm thinking I'll probably order it this week. It's only 398.00 for the table and 4 chairs. Again, I want a table that I don't need to use place mats or worry about scratches. I know the boys will be hard on the table so I don't want to spend too much money.

Well we turned the boys car seats around today. I was so excited to do it and thought they would be happier to sit forward verses backwards but they didn't seem to care. We changed them right before we got pizza. As soon as Adam got in he fell asleep and Jack just sat there content. I feel better being able to see them in the rear view mirror.

Tomorrow is my big play date with the neighbors. Courtney will pick me up at 10:55. I'll be sure to tell all when I get back. I'm hopping the mom with the twins will be there. I'm excited to meet neighbors so quickly. I'm sorta nervous. Wonder what I'll wear?

Do we really live in Ohio? Ohio?

We are finally home. I guess I can call it home even though I have only been here 5 days. We arrived on Tuesday, Lorraine, Dick, babies, 2 car seats, stroller, luggage and all. The flight went well (although we didn't get our fresh baked chocolate chip cookies that Midwest Express Airline advertises about). Jack fell asleep quickly but Adam fought it. He was so tired and beside himself but he just couldn't fall asleep. Finally about 5 minutes before landing he was out.

The house looks really good. Chad had put a lot of the stuff away but there is still a lot of organizing to do. Dick and Chad organized the basement and garage. Lorraine and I decorated several rooms. Oh, and of course we shopped! After our long days of cleaning, organizing, chasing babies, and decorating, we all played pitch. Dick and Lorraine left this morning. We are going to miss their company and help, and of course they will miss the babies.

So, I have a new friend. Her name is Courtney. Ok, maybe she doesn't know we are friends yet, but we are. The other day I pulled in the drive and this mom was pushing a stroller. I introduced myself and she invited me to the play group she just started in the neighborhood. She has an 8 month old daughter and she told me there is another couple down the street that has boy/girl twins that will be 1 in July. I'm excited to meet everyone.

The boys are adjusting just fine. We are so totally off a schedule that I feel like I am dealing with newborns again. I'm not sure if they are waking in the night because they are teething, scared of their new surrounding, or just hungry. I decided that I will give it 2 weeks then try to ween them off the night bottle. Now that they both crawl fast I have to keep a very close eye on them. They like to pull drawers open. We are going to home depot today to buy baby proofing supplies.

Almost Home

Well the boys and I are half way through our sabbatical at the Wentworths. Though some things are quite challenging, mostly we are having a great time. The boys are waking up at least once each in the middle of the night. I have been giving them bottles right away so they will stop crying and go back to sleep. I know I am creating a bad habit but I figured when we get to our home and routine they will sleep through the night again....right? They still get up at 5:30 a.m. We did get up at 6:15 a.m. the other morning! It was great! Brooke has been carrying the boys around and helping me with them. They are like her real life dolls. We are enjoying our stay with everyone but anxious to get to Columbus. We will be there next Tuesday. We can't wait to see daddy!

The boys are doing great, as usual. We had their 12 month check up today. Adam weighs 19.3 and Jack weighs 18.12. They are both in the 10 percentile for height and weight. I'm going to wait a few more weeks then turn their car seats around so they will be facing front. That will be so nice to be able to see them in the mirror verses wondering what they are doing. They sure are cute!

Not a whole lot at this point to tell about. Just having fun at Kim's until we go home. The boys are enjoying the activity around here and I'm enjoying the help.

Coming and Going

We had a great Memorial Day weekend. Boy it went fast! Grandpa and Grandma Moorefield and Papa and Nana Garcia came to Kansas City for a visit. Sunday Kim and Curtis had a cookout. They had hamburgers and hot dogs, smoked brisket and some other kind of meat, salads, beans, and of course homemade ice cream and chocolate cake. Needless to say, we all overate. Later we played badminton and pitch. And yes, we all still agree that spouses should not be partners, right Chad?

After a relaxing few days it's hard to get in the swing of things again. My routine is all out of whack because the packers come tomorrow. I'm really hoping it all goes smoothly. Chad is going to be home tomorrow night so he can deal with the packers then. The new and final itinerary of moving is as follows; Chad leaves Friday with Lola and Baxter to Columbus. The boys and I will be staying with Kim until Tuesday June 12. Then Lorraine and Dick will be flying to Columbus with me and the boys. It seems that everything is falling into place.


As far as Adam and Jack, they are doing wonderful. They got their birthday presents from Aunt Kim, Nana and Papa over the weekend. They now have their own plastic Little Tikes cars. You know, the red one with the wheels and the door that opens so they can ride it like Fred Flinstone. They instantly wanted to ride it! We taught them how to blow kisses. They both have done it several times but it seems that Adam still wants to clap every time you ask him to do something. And Jack is usually too busy to be bothered doing tricks. I think they are going through growth spurts. They both keep waking up in the middle of the night hungry. I really don't want to get in the habit of a nighttime feeding. Hopefully this won't last long......I'M TIRED!!!

Well I have a ton of things to get done before I go to bed. Pack, clean fridge, drink a margarita, laundry, clean in general, dishes, drink a margarita, pay bills, take trash out and then bed. Sound like an exciting Tuesday night! I will try to post something while the boys and I are staying at Kims house, otherwise you won't hear from me for a couple weeks.

Boys will be boys

I don't think I can wait until January. The American Idol fans know what I'm talking about. The next season of AI starts and that it toooooo far away. As most of you know my dad comes over every Tuesday and brings dinner and we watch AI. Yes, we know we are losers. But Jordan won! I'd like to take credit for her victory since I did stay on the phone until 10:00 p.m. last night voting for her but I won't. Oops, I forgot Chad said I should be embarrassed that I voted and to not tell anyone. My secrets safe, right?

Today Adam graduated from the lazy-man-army crawl to an actual crawl. We were at Aunt Kim's house and she told Adam she was going to get him. He got so excited that he pushed that butt in the air, tucked those knees under and took off. It was a proud moment for mommy. Of course it was a little sloppy and we do need to work on it but he did it. Now he can keep up with Jack.

As I posted earlier about the boys not sharing the ball, well we continue to have issues. Usually it's Jack taking the toy right out of Adam's hand. Adam then cries this heavy hearted broken cry. I then usually take the toy out of Jack's hand, give the toy back to Adam and hand Jack something different. I have started to try to let them figure it out and will only intervene if needed. Well, today Adam decided he wanted Jack's toy and he pushed him to the ground. Jack fell back and hit his head on the floor. Adam continued to grab the dog collar (yes, I let my kids chew on Lola's collar) then he went about his business. Jack cried for a second and was over it. I think it's time I start reading about how to deal with these boys as they get older.

I also have discovered something today. It crossed my mind before but I didn't really figure it out until today. What, you say is the big discovery? Well, Jack likes to poop in a clean diaper. I don't know how many times that I have changed his diaper and literally 2 minutes later I smell something. And it's not roses I'm smelling either. That little stinker waits until he has a clean diaper on to poo. I guess I don't blame him but I change enough diapers to have to deal with that. And as those who have watched Adam and Jack know there are a lot of diapers to be changed! When do I start potty training?

Monday already?

This weekend seemed to have flown by. I can't believe tomorrow is another Monday (I actually like Mondays). The boys and I (and Lola of course) picked Chad up at the airport on Friday. Chad gets so excited to see Adam and Jack. The boys are always thrilled to see daddy. I think they get sick of playing with me everyday! We took Adam and Jack to the Plaza to see some of our friends that were in town for a wedding. We ate at Baja 600. It was good to see everyone and to pass the boys off to them so Chad and I could enjoy our lunch! Today we went out to lunch and stopped by Charlie's house. Now it's almost 7:00pm, Chads on his way to the airport, the boys are asleep, and I'm having a margarita (or two).

So I bought a ball for the boys today. I thought they would like to have a bigger rubber ball. Well this is the first time with a toy that they do not want to share. When I bought it I didn't even think about buying two because they usually share. Well when one had the ball the other would chase it and take it. The tears were flowing today. I went back and got another ball. It's the best .98 cents I've ever spent.

The scoop with the house is that the movers pack us up on Wednesday May 30th. At that point the boys and I will probably stay at Kim's house. Chad will drive to Columbus in the Yukon with Lola and Baxter on Friday June 1st. We have posession of our new house on Wednesday June 6th, so the movers will drop our stuff off then. The boys and I (and maybe Nana) will fly to Columbus either Thursday or Friday and Chad will pick us up. That's the plan as of today. I'm glad we at least are starting to talk about a plan.

Home Sweet Home

I did it. I left the boys for exactly 26 hours and 45 minutes. And you know what? Everyone survived! I wasn't worried about the boys, I was worried about me. It's weird going from a crazy busy schedule, always worring about naps and when the next bottle will be or why they are crying, to nothing. I literally got on the airplane and did nothing for the last 26 hours. I only had to worry about myself! It was a great feeling, but I was extremely excited to come home. I may complain about my boring/busy days with the boys but I realized I LOVE IT. The boys and I have routine and life that works for us and we like it. I'm so lucky to stay home with them!

So, yes, yes we did find a house! (Picture is above) We will reside at 6781 Upper Brook Way soon. Soon is my guess. We really aren't sure of any details. The relo gal that's supose to be helping us doesn't call Chad back when she should, so there are a lot of things in the air. All I know is that I love our new house. It's in a cute, friendly, family neighborhood called The Greens of Hampsted Village. Our house is sooooo cute. It has what they call a "bonus room" on the second floor. It's a room that will have a t.v. and all of the boys' toys. If you want to see the house you can go to www.realtor.com. So cute!

Not a whole lot new with the boys. We think Jack might say "nana." Nana was working on it while she was here watching the boys. They both still have 2 teeth on the bottom, 3 and a half on top. Adam is my biter. He will lay his head in your lap and just when you say "ohhhh, how cute, he wants to cuddle" he bites you! Jack is the one who bites the furniture. They both have several teeth marks on their cribs. Naughty boys! Can you believe they will be 1 on June 26th! How did my little babies turn into little boys?

Well I will keep everyone posted on our move. Hopefully in the next few days we know more. I'm such a planner that this being in limbo is driving me crazy!

Bye-Bye Mommy....

Happy Mothers Day to all the mommies out there. I do realize it is Monday and Mothers Day was yesterday. Hey I'm surprised it's only Monday! I had a wonderful Mothers Day. We didn't do too much, just spent time together. I had to take Chad to the airport around 6:00 p.m. so I went to Kim's house on the way home. She was having a cookout so the boys and I hung out for a little bit. I ended up putting them to bed at 8:30 (they usually go down around 7:00), I thought they would sleep in. We got up at 5:30 a.m.....

We had a great visit with Grandma Jenny. She came on Wednesday evening. We she arrived at the airport I told her I would pick her up in the front of the airport so I didn't have to lug the boys around. Of course we were planning to surprise her at her gate. When she finally got off the plane and saw us she was thrilled! Her trip always seems to go so fast. We didn't do much, but that's what make the trip so great. We played with the boys on a blanket under the shaded tree most of the time. The boys love it! Since they don't like the grass I don't have to worry about them crawling off the blanket.

Well I'm going to do it. That's right, I'm going to leave the boys with nana and go to Columbus to look at houses. I'm sad to leave them. I haven't been apart from them yet. I know they will be fine, but I will miss them. They will remember me, right? I'm going to actually try to enjoy my freedom and time away from them. A whole 24 hours without poopy diapers, bottles, fussiness, crying, "mama mama mama mama mama mama", and "mama mama mama mama mama", might actually be a nice change. I leave Wednesday morning and return home Thursday morning. Short trip but I need to start out with baby steps.

Grandma Jenny is coming!

My mom, grandma Jenny, is coming to visit on Wednesday. She will be staying with us until Sunday. What a great way to spend our Mothers day! She has not seen the boys since our trip to Kalamazoo in December. I keep asking her what she wants to do while she is here and all she says is "play with those boys." Of course I know we will go shopping! I bet we will also drink wine and Margaritas, watch movies, have coffee on the deck, eat lots of junk food, and talk all night. I can't wait!

Well the weirdest thing is happening with Jack. There is this song on a cartoon that when I sing it he cries. It first happened the other day. I kept singing it and he was crying but it took me a while to figure out that it is that song. So of course I grabbed the video camera and started singing. Sure enough he started crying. It's not a mad or loud cry, it's a soft almost sad cry. Chad can even sing the song different than me and Jack will get sad. The words are "You are my best friend, I love you." I can sing any other song and he likes it but this one touches a nerve. Chris, our Parents As Teachers lady, is coming Thursday so I will ask her about this. It's so crazy. I wonder what he is associating the song with?

The boys are definitely calling me "mama." Every time I leave the room or go out of their eye sight they both chant "mamamamamama." We even went to the mall today and Adam was being a little fussy so I picked him up, the whole time I was holding him he was yelling "mama, mama, mama." It was cute but Adam has a loud voice so it echoed through out. All of the grandmas and moms that heard him smiled or laughed.

You will be relieved to know that I read in my "What to Expect, the First Years" book that babies banging their heads is normal. Regarding my previous post about Jack banging his head. Apparently he is learning about rhythm and that is his way of expressing it. Hey, if that's what the book says I'm going with it. Chad and I just thought he would be the athletic baby...

"Bye-Bye"

Not a whole lot going on with us. The boys and I went to Wichita on Wednesday and came home Friday afternoon. Chad was out of town from Sunday until Friday so we headed to nana and papa's house for a little "vacation." It truely is a vacation for me. It's so nice to have someone else helping me keep an eye on the boys. Now that they are crawling it's like I can't turn my eyes away for one second.

Papa taught Adam to wave "bye-bye." He's not an expert on it yet but he will wave when he wants to. I tried to teach Jack but all he does is shake his head sideways as if he's saying "no-no-no-no." I have discovered Jack's new thing is to bang his head on things. The other day I heard a thumping noise over and over again. I went to the dining room where he was playing and he was sitting with his back to the wall banging his head. After a few more bangs I finally moved him in the other room. Chad noticed him banging his head this morning against the couch. At least that is soft!

Well, I had a first yesterday. A first with poopy in the bathtub! I now give the boys baths together (as you can see from the picture below) and did so last night. As they were splashing and giggling, all the sudden Adam got that serious look. I knew as soon as he turned red what he had done. I unplugged the tub and pulled both boys out. Sure enough it was poo. Not the kind that you pick up with toilet paper and put in the toilet poo either. Needless to say I had to scrub the tub and toys.

Chad looked at a few houses last week when he was in Columbus. Out of the bunch he looked at only one sorta caught his eye. He will look next week too. Hopefully something will come up quickly.
